The season so far - Spurs player ratings

As we approach the half way stage of this season’s premiership a regular poster takes a look at those Spurs players who’ve featured most regularly and rates their performance so far…

Robbo, I had misgivings about him but when the season started he had lost weight and has been very good and hugely impressive. Does all the things that Kasey didn’t like bossing his box. I just wish he would vary the goal kicks a little. 8/10

King, We always knew there was a good defender in there, has had trouble in the past with concentration but seems to of got better perhaps with the help of Naybet and being appointed Vice-Captain. Only fault really is he needs to be more vocal. Not really a Captain imo. 8/10

Naybet, Started fantastically v Liverpool, good at organising the back 4, a good buy for the short term. Gets caught out for pace too often, maybe will get stronger now not fasting. A good buy imo helped Leds loads maybe they can work on an understanding re the pace of some strikers. 7/10

Edman, was fantastic also when 1st came, became an instant fans favourite. Has been troubled with injury. Has made the LB his own imo hopefully will stay injury free for a while. 7/10

Pamarot, a solid hard working defender, doesn’t seem to get the credit due imo. He admits he is shy maybe when he settles a bit more we may see more of him. 7/10

Atouba, has plenty of tricks in his locker. Tries to do them in dangerous areas sometimes and comes unstuck but has pace to get himself out of trouble although a little rash at times. Gives me more heart attacks than any other player. I prefer him as a LM than a LB 6/10

Ziegler, hard to believe he is only 18. A very exciting player who is very hard working and can play on both sides and as a LB or LM. Only played a handful of games but very impressive, one for the future. 7/10

Mendes, For me he has been the most consistent player, a good tackler and a good passer of the ball. Largely unsung, needs a goal to settle him down. Better in the middle than on the right. 8.5/10

Carrick, i am waiting to see the real MC turn up. A good debut as a sub feeding Defoe almost straight away, has a tendency to disappear during games imo, shirks tackles, better reports of late though 6/10

Davis, we have missed him badly imo. Formed a good partnership with Mendes straight away. 6/10 lack of games

Redknapp, seemed to want to prove a point early on and was making rash tackles a lack of pace has really shown 6/10

Brown, hard working, non stop for 90 mins. At last playing in his favoured position, look for more goals from him as well as assists. I like this type of player, honest. Underrated imo 8.5/10

Keane, has had injury early on and hasn’t really found his form so far, has the look of someone who is going imo. I wish he would stop the moaning and just get on with the game 7/10

Defoe, Has been outstanding, free scoring now the shackles of Santini on the midfield have gone. Needs to stop getting stupid bookings though. Hopefully he will stay. 9/10

Kanoute, has shown when his head is right he can be right up there with the best but he doesn’t perform like that often enough. Maybe the goal last weekend will follow on and get back to the pre Mali form. 6/10

Davies, very poor, has got full fitness back yet, needs to show what he did 2 seasons ago 5/10
