Spurs / Derby news: The Pole who might equal goals

Perhaps not first choice as all of us eagerly awaited the news from Holland or maybe Italy. I think everyone was a little surprised to here the name Rasiak build up, first on the bulletin boards then eventually late into the night on the official site

Derby County's centre forward has signed for Spurs! A good few years ago we might have got very excited at the thought of a Kevin Hector John O'Hare Charlie George or Roger Davies swapping the mud of the then Baseball Ground (all schoolboys of that era will remember the Baseball Ground as a mudheap but a very good side playing on it) for White Hart Lane. But today what have we got here had to be question.

Well firstly we have a Polish international, perhaps a country not in the first echelon of European nations any longer, but one that is making England work for qualification (as is Sven the roar goes out). Raisiak has a goal record at international level which is reasonable 6 in 20 I believe.

For Derby last season he played at times as a lone striker, he has ability on the ball being deceptively strong and is not a bad header of the ball at all. The question against him will be his pace at a higher level he doesn't appear on first viewings to be particularly quick but he does posses an ability to arrive in the box at the right time and find space in the box. The masses will roar all well and dandy against Championship defenders but this is the Premier League. The arguments against Rasiak are very much the same that people argued about Dean Ashton and Ashton managed the rise very well indeed.

Lets hope Razor as I believe the Derby fans knew him, is a success for Spurs and manages the step up. It is a big step but his coming into a good side and he has played internationally so why not. Personally when I look at him, I keep thinking of Roger Davies who really really old people will remember a Cup tie at White Hart Lane where he scored a hat-trick and made Mike England look like a novice. A few performances like that and we might have a player on our hands.
