Rushden and Diamonds held onto top spot after a cliff-hanger that produced two goals, a red card, and a penalty save in 4 minutes. An encounter that never really took off in the first half, Exploded into life 20 minutes into the second half.

Luke Rodgers pounced on a ball from Ian Woan, skipped his way past the Rushden defence thundering the ball past Billy Turley.

Not a minute to catch you breath from the restart, a good move, got the ball out to Paul Hall. He crossed the ball to Duane Derby who produced a superb glancing header past Dunbavin to level on 72 minutes.

Thirty seconds later Luke Rodgers, who was the thorn in Rushden and Diamonds side all day. Burst into the box and was brought down by a desperate lunge from Sambrook, The man in the black, blew for the penalty, and a Red card for Andrew Sambrook.

Nigel Jemson the Shrewsbury captain, took the responsibility, strode up, but could only shoot tamely to Billy Turley’s right and the Rushden keeper easily saved.
