Rushden record 1st away win at Hartlepool

Rushden and diamonds record their 1st away win of the season by beating Hartlepool 2-1. A late winner from Jamaican international Paul Hall 6 minutes from time was enough to take all 3 points against the table topping side

Due to injuries within the diamonds camp, Brian Talbot was forced to change things around a bit, giving Underwood the unusual role of striker, with Solkhon.

It was Hartlepool who took the lead in the first half when Adam Boyd fired an angled shot past Turley, who was forced to make earlier saves.

The second half was a different story though, as Daniel Talbot replaced Solkhon, pushing Hall into the role of striker, and immediately made an impact within 3 minutes of the start when a Talbot corner met the head of Peters which saw his effort hit the bar down into the back of the net.

Further chances fell for Mustafa, Wardley, and Underwood as the Northamptonshire side pressed for a winner, before the home side staged a rally.

But the diamonds looked resilient and held on before a ball from Peters in defence met Hall in midfield to see him break forward towards sight of goal taking on pool defender Graeme Lee, before firing low past the pool keeper for the winner.

The diamonds held firm and were rewarded with a vital victory to keep them heading back up the table. The 192 diamonds fans showed their delight at the final whistle.
