Darby scores 2 in a below par victory

Rushden were back to winning ways on Saturday as they beat Leyton Orient 2-0, but it was a below standard performance, and the O’s could have easily walked away with the 3 points, if only they could finish better.

Duane Darby marked his comeback with two goals for Rushden in the last 12 minutes of the game. Poor defending from the O’s gifted us the victory, after they had wasted many chances due to poor finishing, and still await their first away win of the season.

Both Darby and Lowe returned from injury, but Underwood was still absent with a groin strain, and Hunter kept his place despite being sent off at Coventry, the third time this season!

Darby’s first goal came on 78 minutes when a Gray free kick was flicked on by Lowe for Darby to strike from a tight angle which went in off the far post in front of the Peter Debanke terrace, much to the relief of the diamonds faithfull.

8 minutes later Darby’s 2nd goal came after hard work from Hall found him in space in front of goal for a simple tap in.

Darby exclaimed after the game that luck was definitely on our side and it was a victory that we should forget.
