Third round beckons for Diamonds

A big pay -day is just one of the incentives for Rushden and Diamonds when they travel to the real St. James Park to play Exeter in the FA Cup second round.

Brian Talbot will be hoping that Diamonds can successfully negotiate the tie so the club can receive some much needed revenue. Of course, if they were to reach the third round, there is the potential to play a Premiership club, which would increase revenue further. Money is urgently required at the moment due to the need to release more players, following Andy Tillsons retirement and Mustafas imminent departure.

Billy Turley is likely to miss the trip after tearing a calf muscle in training yesterday. However, Paul Underwood and Mark Peters should play despite injury problems. John Dempster will deputise for the suspended Barry Hunter.

Rushden will be hoping to reach the second round of the worlds greatest cup competition for the third time in their history.......
