Spireites Put Port Vale To One Side!!

A stunning performance from the Spireites saw them gain their first three points of the season. After two defeats Chesterfield have one win which lifts them from the foot of the table. An unbelievable first and second half display saw the Blues totally dominate play and sail to victory!

David Reeves making his first league appearance for the spireites since he left the club to move to Oldham. Reeves put on an inspirational performance, something which Chesterfield have missed since the 33 year old left the club. He is able to motivate the team and is a ‘fatherly’ figure for the youngsters at the club.

Reeves who became a firm favourite at the club because of the enthusiasm and passion he showed for the club ran out onto the pitch to very loud chants of ‘Reevesie, Reevesie’ and he kindly showed his thanks by waving and clapping to the fans!

The first half got underway and Chesterfield came so close on many occasions to go goals up but never took the final chance. Carl Muggleton coped well under pressure when Port Vale attempted to shoot and looked more focused than previous matches. Port Vale never really challenged him until well into the second half though!

One chance from the spireites was worthy of a goal and it was very unfortunate when it went just a little bit wide of the mark. Rob Edwards with the chance managed to beat the Port Vale goalie but from a very hard angle managed to muck it up when it looked much easier to score!

Chesterfield continued to dominate and create more chances up front which was very pleasing to see. These two teams were of two standards and Chesterfield were obviously the better side throughout the match. What I have noticed is that when the all the team try and portray that ‘never say die’ attitude we could beat any team on our day!

Chris Brandon shone again and became ‘Man Of The Match’ which he thoroughly deserved and the second match running aswell. Unfortunately Dave Rushbury decided that Jamie Burt wasn’t needed and he wasn’t even on the bench which was surprising!

Many Vale players became irritated easily and many yellow cards were handed out for petty things! The ref was very poor especially when Chesterfield had a shot and the Vale keeper put it out for a corner and he never gave it! The most shocking decision was later to come though!

First Half Analysis:
Chesterfield the better side throughout the first half, dominated play, unlucky not to score on several occasions and deserved to be at least 1-0 up if not more!

Straight into the second half Chesterfield took advantage while defenders were napping from the Vale side and good old Rob Edwards fired Chesterfield’s first goal in!! Oh what a great feeling, the Kop errupted into noise!

Chesterfield dominated yet again and rightly so! We only had to wait up until the 85th/86th minute to see another Blues goal and this time from ‘Man Of The Match’ Chris Brandon! A superb goal from a superb footballer with an unbelievable talent! An over head kick that beat the Vale goal keeper and clinched Chesterfield’s first three points of the season!

In the last minute Vale managed to get a slight look in when they were awarded a penalty. It was bizarre as I had no idea what it had been given for! Anyone want to enlighten me??

When the final whistle blew the home support went home very happy but the visitors had, had enough and left before the end! A very poor Vale side, without creativity but I’m happy with the three points!!

Match Summary:
A brilliant performance from a talented Chesterfield side, the defence did their job and so did the scorers! Each player showed the real reasons why they are in the side because there of pure quality. Reeves looked as if he had enjoyed himself too! Not as much as I enjoyed myself watching us stuff the Vale!!

BRING ON THE MANSFIELD FOR THE NEXT THREE POINTS!!
