New signing set to start against Colchester!

Chesterfield boss Roy McFarland has moved to bring in Charlton winger Jamal Campbell-Ryce on a months loan in time for the game against league leaders Colchester United. The player has been signed due to the lengthening injury list at Saltergate.

Mark Hudson is doubtful for the game against table toppers Colchester, whilst Kevin Dawson, Wayne Allison and Steve Blatherwick all look certain to miss out through injury and illness.

Aaron Downes may get his chance at centre back, or alternatively Alan O'Hare could return to take up a place in the middle of defence. Either way, the Spireites will be looking to maintain the record of lowest goals conceded in the entire league so far.

New signing Jamal Campbell-Ryce is a pacy winger who can play on both sides. He has previsously won the Charlton Athletic young player of the season and looks to be a major coup for the Spireites. The 21-year-old has had experience with the Jamaican national side and recently signed a new three year deal with the Addicks.

Up front, Mark DeBolla completed his first 90 minutes in professional football last saturday, and looks set to continue. Tcham N'Toya is likely to be his partner due to an injury to Wayne Allison and a slight knock Caleb Folan received during the Tranmere match.

Meanwhile, the Spireites are still said to be in negotiations with a club for a midfielder who is also attracting interest from a Championship club. The signing of Campbell-Ryce, coupled with the interest in this player just goes to show how far the Spireites have come in twelve months. The signing of Damon Searle was all we had to get excited about last year!
