The Team Now Brecks Is No More!

How will we cope without the use of defender Breckin now with the Wigan side at the JJB? Do we have any suitable replacements at the club? Or will we have to ship someone in to fill the defenders boots?

Since Breckin has left Saltergate and moved to the JJB Stadium (Wigan) will we be left without a solid defender at the back?

Breckin was a regular first teamer for the Spireites when he wasn't troubled with injury. A massive favourite with the crowd and will be sadly missed. Last season there was however interest shown from many First Division sides but still Chesterfield managed to keep him.

Breckin usually a good performer on his day will be very hard to replace, or will he? Some say not a very big loss, others say we're down next season, what I say is let's wait until next season and see if Rushbury decides to make any changes!

Now Muggleton is in the net, more experience will be the key to success next season I should hope, something which the spireites lacked last season with Nath in goal. Muggleton is no stranger to Chesterfield as this will be his third time playing for Chesterfield, twice on loan. He was a crowd favourite then and I'm sure he will be next season. He's already a favourite of mine for various reasons!

Upfront is the likes of Jamie Burt (ex - Whitby Town player) and ex - Stockport player Glyn Hurst. Towards the end of last season these two became the perfect strikeforce that the spireites team has seen in ages and probably saved the spireites from the dreaded relegation! They have speed, pace, good service (on a good day), determination and young blood! Something else which lacked when David Reeves and Luke Beckett we're upfront! Although Luke Beckett has became a sort of revolution at Stockport, his days with Chesterfield became numbered for the second division. Despite his vast amount of goals last season for Stockport this was not enough to save them from relegation to the second. So at last Chesterfield will have the pleasure to entertain them next season and hopefully it will go Chesterfield's way if we can put Becks at bay!

Mark Allott (named rat-boy by his former club Oldham, can't understand why because the chants soon stopped last season when he put a goal past the team to ensure the spireites won). A player with such ability to play either upfront or in midfield has shown the spireites that there is a way forward. Creating superb goals last season is definitely a must if Chesterfield are going to do well next season! His partnership with Mark Innes (also an ex - Oldham player, they must really be kicking theirselves now to let them have gone) has become so solid and Chesterfield last season seemed to get better and better with the bond getting stronger and stronger between the pair. I think with these just behind the front two, teams will find it difficult not to conceed against us (well I'm hoping)

Good news about Blathers, he's started pre-season training and will be back for next season guaranteed. Definitely we missed the highly rated defender because on occasions the spireites found it difficult to stop teams breaking through the defence and going for goal. Maybe a possible replacement for Brecks? We will have to wait and see!
