The poll of whereabouts Chesterfield will end up next season has ended. An amazing 83 people voted and my messageboard hits are reaching an unbelievable 3000!
A mere 7 percent of the votes were placed on champions.
My Verdict - We do not have a good enough squad to finish as champions yet. I think Cardiff (THE LAND OF SHEEP) will clinch first place however it will be very close at the top. Maybe a surprise side will finish higher than we all would have expected!
A disappointing but more realistic nobody voted on the Spireites getting promotion.
My Verdict - Promotion for the spireites is too unrealistic target for Chesterfield this season after narrowly avoiding relegation last season. The team is alot stronger but I still feel the Champions, the promoted teams and the play-offs will be already filled by teams and I'm afraid Chesterfield isn't one of them!
Ten people voted for the spireites to end up in the play-offs which is something we'd all like to see happen.
My Verdict - If Chesterfield are able to maintain a good home form next season then the spireites have a more than capable team and chance of finishing in quite a high position. I don't think that appearing in the play-offs is on the cards though this season. Next season when we don't have to play the likes of Cardiff (THE LAND OF SHEEP) which are a side to watch out for that's for sure!
The majority and the most votes were placed on a mid-table position, 35 people infact voted on this option. This is exactly where I predicted Chesterfield to finish this coming season and most people seem to agree with me on this one.
My Verdict - Chesterfield's squad has been greatly improved and is not a patch on last season's. We have a much more experienced goalkeeper who is no stranger at Saltergate. The new improved look is one that I hope will stop at Chesterfield in time to come. Last season the away form was much better than the home one. To reach a mid-table position both the home and away form needs to be solid and consistent but I don't think this is too much of an optimistic target for the Spireites!
23 people are predicting the Spireites to finish in the bottom half just like last season.
My Verdict - Chesterfield won't find themselves their this season, last season was to be expected but now they've found their foot in division two. Most teams tend to struggle when entering a new league with better opposition and having to compete at a high level. I think Mansfield will struggle this season due to the lack of recent experience in division two.
A high number placed their vote on relegation and 25 people reckon the Spireites are heading straight into division three.
My Verdict - This is a high number because Staggies have voted on this option I'm sure. I don't feel we'll go down because whilst there are rubbish teams (you know who they are)still in the league Chesterfield will be hoping for a mid-table position at least!
Vote on my new poll: The question is 'Who will be Chesterfield's top scorer this season?'
