Barry Town have announced John Fashanu is to become the new chairman of the Welsh Premier Champions. The ex-England and Wimbledon striker will become the major shareholder at the club's EGM in the new year.
It is believed that Mr Fashanu was in Geneva today, seeking FIFA permission to take over at Barry Town.
Barry's Chief Executive, Kevin Green told www.barrytown.cjb.net "We are delighted that the final piece of the jigsaw in our 18 month plan to restructure the club is now in place". It was only last week that the 'Dragons' were facing a winding-up order from Newport County, who had not received a £10k sell-on clause for ex-midfielder Mike Flynn, now with Wigan Athletic.
