Aberystwyth 2 Barry Town 3

A bizarre turn around in quality at the the end of this match in which both sides were generally pretty disappointing. However, with Aber leading 2-1 near the end it seemed more a case of making it 3-1 than Barry somehow ludicrously getting an equaliser. However, Aber failed to kill us off and Barry fans were soon to contemplate the above mentioned ludicrous scoreline of 2-2 actually unfolding before their weary, disbelieving eyes. Cotterell could have sealed it only moments later, but fluffed it big style after rounding the Aber keeper. The ball was last seen going up the hill on the clif railway. Ludicrous scorelines quickly turned into frankly bewilderingly outrageous scorelines soon after when Jon French (on as a sub) scored what turned out to be the winner.

Bizarre.

You will of course hear the 'dodgy keeper' comments with which I can only disagree. As you'd expect me to I'm sure. Abi kicked the ball into touch from goal-kicks on 3 embarassing occasions against a hefty easterly wind, the Aber keeper did it 4 times - but was not met with an ounce of jeering as greeted Abi's wayward kicks...

The Aberystwyth fans gave Abi relentless heckling for 90 minutes which was nice to hear, but was all good natured fun. As was also shown after the match in the club house by the very, very gracious hardcore Aber fans as we mutually sang anti-Bangor songs.

The match was a complete shocker though, despite the 5 goals that were scored. The atmosphere was terrific, with the Aber drum and Aber singing keeping up the interest at least - if not the football.

A local primary school gave Abi Baruwa some work they had completed in their school time recently on the topic of racism and other hate crimes which I thought was an excellent touch by the Aber officials and school in question.

The one minute silence held at Park Avenue prior to the match for ex-Barry player Tommy Hocking who died recently was also impeccable.

Thank you also to Aberystwyth Town for voting Abi as Barry Town's man of the match - his presence in the air on crosses is outstanding, as was shown today and recently at Farrar Road amongst others
