Bangor Boss Blasts Underachievers

Bangor City boss Peter Davenport has hit out at his underachieving side. After a recent loss at Connah's Quay, the ex-England international called the defeat a 'watershed' for him, the squad and the club.

In an interview with the 'Bangor Chronicle' Davenport fumed "I said a month ago that if we kept on winning that we would win the title. Too many of out high earners have not delivered and it's time to take stock"

The ex-Manchester United star has been hindered with a wealth of injuries affecting an already small squad. However Davenport was in no mood for making excuses "I didn´t come to Bangor to finish third in the table, I really thought we could win the title with the players we had, and I can trot out all the excuses in the world about bad pitches and bad referees but at the end of the day it´s all about what the players do" .

The 'Citizens' got back on track today, with a 3-0 home victory over early season pace-setters Port Talbot Town at Farrar Road. However it still looks likely that Davenport's side will have to settle for a place in next season's Intertoto Cup, and a tie against Romanian opposition.
