 Cwmbran
Town have named former Newtown manager, Brian Coyne as their
new manager.
The
vastly experienced Scotsman resigned from the Newtown hotseat
towards the end of last season after a disappointing season
with the Robins and a disagreement over cut-backs at the
mid-Wales club. Coyne had spent 12 seasons at Latham Park,
including two European adventures, and Coyne is keen to lead
the Crows into the UEFA Cup this season, after they qualified
by reaching the Welsh Cup Final. He
will be taking over the reigns from Cwmbran, and Welsh Premier
legend Tony Wilcox, who tragically died in April. Wilcox had
been in charge of the Crows since the League of Wales
formation, and led them to the inaugral title in 1992. Coyne
will be keen to see an improvement in attendances at the
excellent Cwmbran Stadium, and he will be hoping that a
successful European adventure will inspire a rise in fortune
for potentially, one of the League's largest clubs. Coyne told
BBC Sport: "Cwmbran are one of the top sides in the
league, they always have been. They've got a good reputation.
It's been a solid club that's been very successful over the
years." I'm
sure we all wish Brian well in his new job, and we'll be
cheering on the Crows in their UEFA Cup campaign. The draw for
the qualifying round takes place on Thursday, and Cwmbran will
be in the draw with fellow Welsh club T.N.S. |
