Newtown duo fly Robins nest

Rhyl have confirmed the signing of Newtown duo Chris Adamson and Gareth Evans on free transfers.

Evans (left) is a 25 year old left back who captained the Robins last season. He has also represented Wales at semi-pro level. Described as an 'attack-minded defender' Evans had spent eight seasons at Latham Park.

Adamson (right), is a 25 year old attacking midfielder who won the Robin's player of the season award in 2001/02. The former Conwy United star, he was joint top scorer at Latham Park last season with 10 goals.

Rhyl chairman Dave Simmons was delighted with the double capture. He said "We are sure Adamson and Evans will be excellent acquisitions to the squad. John (Hulse) is always looking at new players and sees strengthening the squad as an all-year-round thing - not just for the pre-season."

Meanwhile, the Lilywhites are still hoping that ex-striker Lee Trundle agrees to stay with his current club Wrexham. Trundle has confirmed that he set to start talks with the newly promoted div 2 side this week, after speaking with ex boss Brian Flynn about a possible move to Division 3 Welsh rivals Swansea City last week. It is believed that Trundle wishes to stay at the Racecourse despite being offered better terms elsewhere. Rhyl will receive 20k if Trundle signs on the dotted line for Wrexham, as the final installment of his 65k transfer 2 seasons ago.
