TNS Confirm Venue for Euro Tie

T.N.S have confirmed that their 'home' leg with Manchester City in the UEFA Cup will be held in Cardiff at the Millennium Stadium.

It had seemed likely that the tie would be played at the nearby  Racecourse Ground in Wrexham, however the Wales rugby team take on Romania in an international game there the night before.

However, T.N.S. Managing Director, Mike Harris claimed that the Millennium Stadium was always his first choice venue for undoubtedly the club's biggest ever game. Due to UEFA ground requirements, the Racecourse Ground's capacity would have been reduced to 10,500. Harris believes that over 10,000 City fans will make the journey to Wales, however many are sceptical that so many fans will make the long journey to South Wales if they gain a large first leg advantage, at their first competitive match at their new 45,000 capacity City of Manchester Stadium. 

Harris added: "If the Welsh Premier is to be taken seriously as a league then we've got to be playing games in the surrounds of the Millennium Stadium. It's a bold venture but the Stadium has put together an extremely good package and has quantified all the costs and risks. This is great news for TNS, the Welsh Premier League and Welsh football as a whole."
