Oswestry Shareholders Give Merger the Green Light

Oswestry Town shareholders last night agreed to merge the club with ambitious local rivals TNS. The move means Oswestry will lose their club name, and football in the town for at least two years.

The new merged club will play at T.N.S' Llasantffraid Treflan home, whilst a new 'super stadium' is built in Oswestry by 2005. Oswestry will now have to resign from the league and sign away their clubs name. 

Although there were some opposing shareholders, no credible alternatives were proposed and the merger was 'substantially approved' after secretary James Bond warned "We could either grasp the nettle and look forward to an exciting future or face the prospect of our club going out of existence."

He added "Shareholders could see this as the only way forward. The loss of the Oswestry Town name is a shame, but TNS are already in talks about a location for the new stadium and I believe the future for football in Oswestry is now 100% brighter."

How do you feel about the merger? Even though Oswestry's average attendance actually increased last season, the board claimed that support in the town was diminishing.
