Llanelli sunk by Four-Star Swans

Relegated Llanelli's problems go from bad to worse, as they are thumped 4-0 by Swansea City in a pre-season friendly. An estimated 1,500 were at Stebonheath Park to see an inspired performance from James Thomas, who netted a second-half hat-trick.

Things go from bad for worse to relegated Llanelli,
following a 4-0 drubbing against Division three outfit Swansea City at
Stebonheath Park. 1,500 were in attendance at the Welsh Cup Final's venue, with a large number of supporters making the short journey from Swansea. James Thomas hit a superb hat-trick for the visitors, as they recorded an emphatic win against the Welsh League outfit. Llanelli defended well in the first-half, and managed to go in level at the break despite 45 minutes of almost constant pressure from the Jacks. Roberto Martinez and Leon Britton both went close, but could find no breakthrough. Half-Time saw an inspired substitution from Swans boss Brian Flynn, with strikers Lee Trundle and James Thomas coming on. Within twenty minutes of the re-start, the Swans were already three goals to the good - with Thomas netting all three. His first coming from the penalty spot, his second a neat header from a Lee Trundle cross, and his third a phenomenal over-head kick. Andy Robinson tied up the victory with moments left to complete an impressive victory from Swansea, who have won 5 out of their last 6 pre-season games. James Thomas' performance will have given Swans supporters hope that they can turn their fortunes around, and make a chase for promotion next season.
