NEWI CEFN DRUIDS  5  AFAN LIDO  3 - MATCH REPORT

A spirited second half performance saw Afan Lido salvage an ounce of pride at NEWI Cefn Druids, following a first half display leaving the Seasiders trailing by 4 goals.

Braces from Adie Shannon and Tony Williams put a severe dent in Lido's hopes in a 45 minute spell that was arguably Druids' best of the campaign.

Williams netted after only seven minutes before Shannon doubled the scoring 120 seconds later. Both strikers bagged their second in the next ten minutes to leave Lido bemused and exasperated going into the half-time interval.

But Mark Robinson and Stephen Llewellyn's pep-talk saw Lido intent on regaining some grasp on the game, and it wasn't too long before Chris Pridham drilled the ball home after a mistimed clearance from the Druids defence.

The deficit was lessened further when centre-back Paul Evans connected with a powerful header, putting Lido in with a fighting chance.

A clumsy challenge from substitute Gavin Kinsey a few moments later however gifted Druids with a penalty, and although Brian Thomas saved the spot-kick from Aden Shannon, the striker managed to convert the rebound.

It was a high price for Lido who had battled hard in the second half, and even a late consolation goal from captain Paul Evans failed to save them from a 5-3 defeat.
