Andrew Lincoln reviews Saturday's top of the table clash between T.N.S. and new-boys Porthmadog at Treflan. It was the Saints who maintained their 100% record with a convincing 4-0 victory to go top of the league with a game in hand.

TITLE favourites TNS went top
of the Welsh Premier - maintaining their 100% record after
four games - with a comprehensive 4-0 win over new boys,
Porthmadog.
But the visitors could blame
defensive errors for all four goals after making a bright
start to the match at Treflan.
After TNS were forced to replace Nicky ward with Justin Perry
on 14 minutes, they took the lead. The Porthmadog defence
failed to deal with a free kick and John Toner hooked the ball
into an empty net.
Perry missed a sitter on 28
minutes, then man of the match Toner scored again. Gerard
McGuigan failed to collect a long ball and Toner coolly lobbed
into another empty net.
Seven minutes before the break, a Bridgwater cross found
Scott Ruscoe in acres of space on the left flank and his cross
eluded Saints' Jamie Wood, the Port defence and keeper
McGuigan to sail into the goal.
Ten minutes into the second period, Chris Taylor rose to head
home a Ruscoe corner at the far post. Saints went into the
game without key defenders Tommy Holmes and Jimmy Aggrey, who
has just signed a two-year contract. But they were able to
welcome back stalwart Steve Evans after a hernia operation for
his first League appearance of the season.
Porthmadog manager, Viv Williams, was philosophical.
"All our goals came from defensive errors, but I can't
criticise the players involved because they have done really
well for us this season," he said. "I was pleased
with the way we battled to the end, despite being four goals
down. We stuck at it and you've got to take positives from a
result like this.
