Barry Town's prospective owner, Stuart Lovering, has made a final plea to the Dragon's creditors, ahead of the critical meeting at 2pm tomorrow, which will decide whether the Welsh Premier champions will have a future or not.

Barry Town’s prospective owner, Stuart Lovering, has made a final plea to creditors preparing to vote at tomorrow’s Creditors Meeting (Wednesday, 2pm).

“Barry Town AFC is a club with a long and rich history,” said Stuart, “a club which has had successes from winning the Southern League in the 1920s right up to the recent matches in Europe against teams such as Dynamo Kiev and Porto.”

“But it is also a club which has huge potential for the future.

“Barry is a massive town in Welsh terms and the people of the town deserve to have a club competing at the top of the Welsh Premiership and bringing glory to Barry.

“Killing a town’s football club is one of the most disheartening events that can happen to any community, especially one such as Barry which has lost out on the docks and tourism in recent years.

“The support which I have had from people around the town so far has been fantastic, and everyone is enthusiastic about the positive ways in which the club can develop.

“All of the people here have some quality which they can bring to the club, and we want to firmly place the club back in the community, with a strong Academy system, reserve sides and womens teams.

“We want to appeal to everyone in Barry and the Vale with an interest in football, and have some very exciting schemes in the pipeline.

“Above all, though, the club will be run properly off the field to ensure that the current difficulties never ever happen again.

“But for any of this to happen, we need the support of the creditors at the meeting to make sure that they do not kill the football club and a crucial part of Barry’s community.”

A supporters meeting will be held at 7:30pm in Barry Town Football Club on Wednesday, 10th December to determine a response to the Creditors meeting earlier in the day. All fans are invited to attend.
