Chester Chase Pennock

Carmarthen Town goalkeeper Tony Pennock is being linked with a move to Nationwide Conference club Chester City, as they look to end their keeper crisis.

According to www.chestercityfc.co.uk Chester City manager, Mark Wright, has had talks with the 32 year old ex-Rushden keeper over a move to the Deva Stadium. Wright is without first choice keeper Wayne Brown, who is out injured until the end of February, whilst 2nd choice keeper Ian McCaldon has emigrated to Australia, leaving the Conference leaders without a senior goalkeeper. Attempts to lure former Liverpool stopper Pegguy Arphexad proved unfruitful, whilst another target remains veteran keeper Dave Beasant, who is currently goalkeeper coach at Fulham.

Pennock, a Welsh semi-pro international, has not had a happy time at Richmond Park this season, with his club surprisingly struggling at the wrong end of the table, which has seen him concede nearly 50 goals in just 20 games.
