Jones Flies Canaries Nest

Caernarfon Town have surprisingly parted company with manager Adie Jones, despite lying 7th in the league and on course for Premier Cup qualification. Veteran players Dave Norman and Waynne Phillips have both been linked with the caretaker manager job.

Jones has achieved much during his 4 years at the Oval, including winning promotion from the Cymru Alliance in 2000/01.

Under the leadership of Jones the club have re-established themselves in the Welsh Premier and seem on course for a Premier Cup place next season. However, recent results have been slightly disappointing, most notably an incredible 5-5 draw with Connah's Quay Nomads - where the vistors came back from 4-1 down with just 10 men, and last Saturday's draw with lowly Afan Lido despite having a 2-0 second half lead.

It is rumoured that veteran players Waynne Phillips and Dave Norman may be given at least the caretaker manager job. Phillips, a former Wrexham midfielder who has been in fine form this season, is vastly experience and a locally born Welsh speaker and may well be the fan's favourite.

However, the board may decide to go with experience, and defender Dave Norman was manager of Oswestry Town until he was made unemployed following their merger with T.N.S. last summer.

Either way, the departure of Adie Jones is something of a shock, and could harm the club's hopes of achieving a top 8 finish.
