Wilde late strike shares spoils in live TV game

Mike Wilde's stoppage time strike earned TNS a 2-2 in the weekend's televised clash against Rhyl at Treflan.

The visitors were twice ahead through Lee Hunt, but on each occasion, they were pegged back.

Hunt opened the scoring in the 47th minute when his low volley beat Ged Doherty in the home goal.

The Saints hit back almost immediately when substitute Chris King evaded a challenge and his 30 yard effort seemed to be easily saved by Paul Smith, but the luckless keeper spilled the ball into the back of the net.

It was Hunt who again put the Lilywhites in front after 79 minutes.

A stumble by TNS defender Steve Evans saw Hunt latch on to the loose ball and take it to the edge of the area and his shot took a deflection of the backtracking Evans to wrongfoot Doherty.

Just as it looked like Rhyl were going to gain revenge for their home defeat earlier in the season, Scott Ruscoe's corner was flicked on by Evans, leaving Wilde a simple tap in from close range to rescue a point for his side.
