Rhyl sign former England semi-pro captain

Rhyl today announced the signing of former England semi-pro captain, Steve Walters on a free transfer from Kidsgrove. The inspirational central midfielder scored an impressive 23 goals for last season's North West Counties League champions.

Rhyl manager, John Hulse, was clearly delighted with the capture of Walters, after fighting off competition from several non-league clubs for his signature 'Steve is a vastly experienced player who will stand out in the League of Wales' said Hulse. 'He is a great leader by example and will give us a new dimension in midfield.'
Walters was similarly pleased, saying 'I like what I have seen at Rhyl, the playing surface is superb and the pre-season workouts have been really impressive. I cannot wait to get out on the field. I injured my shin a couple of weeks ago and haven't been able to play but, hopefully, I will be fit for the start of the season".
Walters, who cost Kidsgrove £27,000 when he signed from Stevenage, looks likely to be a big hit with the Belle Vue faithful, and if fit, is likely to make his League debut at TNS, a week on Saturday, in Rhyl's opening League of Wales fixture.
