Doubts over the Challenge Cup

    There are understood to be doubts over the new Challenge Cup competition which would see Pontypridd, along with Cardiff, Llanelli and Bridgend taking on South African opposition. The South Africans are apparently asking for the Welsh clubs to pay their accommodation costs whilst over in Wales but the Welsh clubs do not agree with this.

    The competition has had DISASTER written all over it from the start when it emerged that there is guaranteed to be a Welsh team against a South African team in the final. The Welsh teams will each play against two of the South African teams with the best performing Welsh team playing against the best performing South African team in the final. Confused???

   Also, there will be international matches being played at the same time meaning that teams will not be playing their best teams and as a result, may struggle to attract decent crowds to cover the South Africans costs.

   Should the tournament go ahead?
