Bridgend finished their Welsh Premiership season with a defeat - only their second of the competition. However defeat will not bother them as they have already secured the last ever Welsh Premiership featuring the professionals. FOr a match report read on.

Bridgend End Season with Defeat

Despite losing their final match of the season Bridgend will not be too disappointed as they still managed to win the league thanks to 14 wins out of 16.

In the first half Cardiff scored two tries through Dean Dewdney and Jim Brownrigg putting them 10 points clear, a lead which could have been greater had outside half Nicky Robinson not missed both conversions and a penalty attempt. However, the lead was to be reduced before half time as Gareth Cull slotted over a penalty just before the interval to leave the half time score at 10 - 3 in Cardiff's favour.

In the second half penalties were exchanged between Cull and Robinson before young winger Lee Abdul, previously of Pontypridd and playing on permit from Aberavon scored the first try of the second half. Bridgend responded with a try scored by Matthew Owen converted by Cull but Abdul grabbed a second try for the home side to make sure Cardiff gained a victory to put them into third place in the Welsh Premiership. Cardiff now face Pontypridd on Friday evening at the Arms Park in what will be Pontypridd's farewell fixture and the last fixture of the last Welsh Premiership as we know it.
