Celtic Warriors vs. Sale Sharks
Friday 22nd August
Brewery Field, Bridgend
Sale Sharks are the visitors to the Brewery Field on Friday evening to face the Celtic Warriors in what will be the last of their pre-season friendlies.
The Celtic Warriors have already defeated London Welsh in a pre-season friendly but in their first home game against Bath (at Sardis Road) they lost 29 - 22 and will know that they need to lift their game if they are to beat the Sharks.
However, it will be no easy task for the Warriors who have now had to cope with several more call ups to the Wales squad. Winger Gareth Wyatt, centre Jon Bryant and lock Deiniol Jones have all been called up to Steve Hansens training squad in preparation for the game against Romania and so none will feature for the Warriors on Friday.
Coach Lynn Howells has named a starting xv to face Sale which contains a number of semi professional squad members. The starting xv reads:
M Nuthall; R Mustoe, D Bishop, S James, A Havili; N Jenkins, S Martens; G Cox, A Joy, M Jones, N Budgett, M Powell, R Jones, R Bryan (capt), C Harris.
Meanwhile Sale coach Jim Mallinder has opted to give some of his new signings a run out in preparation for their Zurich Premiership campaign. The Sale Sharks starting xv will be picked from the folllowing squad:
M Cueto, C Briers, J Hoyle, R Wigglesworth, J Baxendell, C Jones, D Harris, B van Straaten, C Mayor, N Walshe, S Turner, P Arnold, A Newton, K Yates, M Cairns, J Roddam, B Stewart, C Day, D Schofield, A Sheridan, M Lund, P Davies.
NOTE: Admission cost for this game is £5 for adults and children.
