Edinburgh - Match Review

Despite welcoming back a number of their International stars, the Celtic Warriors could not overcome a well drilled Edinburgh team at the Brewery Field on Friday night. For opinion on the Warriors performance read on

Lets have a look at the starting XV:
15. Kev - Did he catch a ball?
14. Daf - He is still short of match practice, we shall give him a few more chances.
13. Alfie - 1st game in the centre for a long while, didn't look too sharp.
12. JB - Missed tackles, this is usually his strength.
11. Idris - Broke through on a few occassions, has pace in abudance and needs to back it at times.
10. Jinks - Kicked the points, didn't get his backs moving enough. Should Sweeney be brought in?
9. Sio - Was given poor ball but kept trying, emerged with credit.
8. Parkes - Out of position, not really a ball carrier. Suggestion: Nathan Strong is playing out of his skin for Bridgend, as a natural no8 why is he not being considered?
7. Harris - Non existent
6. Mamma - Few decent breaks, needs to up his workload.
5. Sid - Kept trying
4. D Jones - I'm not his biggest fan, again did not see him. I'm sure we have better options than this.
Front Row - Can't recite who was playing, what does that say? Started well but then like the rest of the pack non existent.

I usually do a positive and negative after a match, after this though the worst performance of the season I will concentrate on the negatives:

- The pack - outplayed in all areas, on paper we don't look bad but names and reputations mean nothing if you don't have a bit of fire and aggression.
- Tackling - Its not touch rugby, people need to hit and hit hard. Edinburgh were breaking through from 1st phase possesion which is a disgrace.
- The Crowd - Look at the team, then look at the crowd. Where was everyone? This is rubbish and if it carries on we can wave goodbye to regional rugby in the area. LS has big pockets but patience must be running thin.

I have written this several days after the game because I went home in total disgust, at the minute we are also rans and if we play like this against Wasps or Perpignan then I pity the scoreboard operator.

Well done to Edinburgh though, they looked a very capable team and Paterson and the bald guy on the wing look like Scots stars of the future.
