Gareth Thomas' move to Toulouse could be in doubt following a cash row between the French giants and the WRU. For more on this story read on
Following the disbanding of the Celtic Warriors by the WRU, Gareth Thomas' move to Toulouse now seems in doubt after the Welsh Rugby Union are refusing to transfer him until the initial agreement between the Celtic Warriors and Toulouse has been honoured.
Initially, the Warriors were set to gain a £100,000 fee for Thomas as well as a lucrative payout from a pre season friendly between the 2 teams. However, when the Warriors were disbanded by the WRU it had been thought that Gareth Thomas had become a free agent and so no fee would be required for his move but David Moffett is insisting that the WRU is owed £100,000 for Thomas.
Toulouse are not about to give in to the WRU demands and are understood to be consulting lawyers in Britain in preparation for a legal battle with the WRU so that they can acquire the services of Thomas without having to pay a transfer fee in the same way that the other former Warriors players have been able to move to new clubs.
