Warriors Xmas Carol
By Zippy
December 21 2004
Here is a Warriors Christmas Carol, it was done by a M Murphy who posts on the Bridgend E-Group. For the Words of song read on.
To the tune of Don McClean's "American Pie"
A long, long time ago...
I can still remember
How the rugby used to make me smile.
And I knew if I had my chance
That I could make those people chant
And, silence those damn horns for a while
But february made me shiver
With every try that we'd deliver
Bad news on the doorstep;
I couldnt take one sidestep
I can't remember if I cried
When I read about the Warriors side,
But something touched me deep inside
The day the rugby died.
So why why did the Warriors die
Why did the WRU
Tell us those lies
When them blazered boys took one look at our side
Singing, this'll be the day that they die.
this'll be the day that they die.
Do you read the Western Mail
Do you think Moffets doomed to fail
Did the Union tell you so?
Do you believe in ruck n maul
Can rugby save your mortal soul
And can you teach me how to pass real low
Well I know that youre in love with him
Cause you say you'd watch another team
Well I hope you like to lose
Man I hate those Cardiff Blues
I was a lonely teenage second row
With an acne face and a broken nose
But I knew I that we were truly f###ed
The day the rugby died
So why why did the Warriors die
Why did the WRU
Tell us those lies
When them blazered boys took one look at our side
Singing, this'll be the day that they die.
this'll be the day that they die.
Since they closed us down we been on our own
No foreign trips or a match at home
But that's not how it used to be
In our first season we made the news
We showed the English champions they could lose
And the crowds were coming back you see
But when Leighton said he was leaving town
Moffet came and closed us down
The Brewery abandoned
The players were disbanded
And the memories I admired the most
The tries we scored beneath the posts,
Were stolen by the blazered ghosts
The day the rugby died
So why why did the Warriors die
Why did the WRU
Tell us those lies
When them blazered boys took one look at our side
Singing, this'll be the day that they die.
this'll be the day that they die.
