Bridgend 20-7 Carmarthen Quins

The Western Mail

IT was high-tempo rugby from Bridgend from the start as they stunned the Quins with a try after just two minutes.

Right-wing Dan Hitchins was given enough space from a long pass to race in at the corner for fly-half Gareth David to convert. Two penalties by David threatened to overwhelm the visitors in the first-half, but the home side were disappointed with just a 13-0 interval lead.

Quins brought on scrum-half Emyr Jones and prop Ricky Davies for the second half.

On 52 minutes the Quins scored a try with scrum-half Jones using the narrow side from a ruck for left-wing Anthony Rees to squeeze in at the corner. Fly-half Craig Evans added the conversion.

Prop Phil Booth calmed home nerves with a try from a line-out and David added the conversion with the help of an upright.
