Why Is Wales vs Fiji At The Millenium Stadium?

Wrexham's Racecourse Ground and Swansea's new Morfa Stadium had been in the running to stage the fixture.

The news means that ALL Wales' autumn games will be in Cardiff, New Zealand, South Africa and Australia also given November dates.

"The decision to stay in Cardiff for Wales v Fiji was based on the stadium's sheer size," said Millennium Stadium general manager Paul Sergeant.

Sergeant also praised the cases put forward by both the Wrexham and Swansea venues."

So the Welsh fans have FOUR games at Cardiff in FOUR weeks, why cannot lessons be learnt?

We had the embarrassment of South Africa the tri-nations champions playing in front of stadium where a 1/3 of seats were unsold.

After winning the Grand Slam Wales could almost guarantee sell outs against the 3 Southern Hemisphere giants, that would prove a huge money spinner to the WRU.

Then comes the Fiji game, an exciting south sea island team, obviously not in the same league as the Big SH 3 but of course we should be playing them.

The question is why at the MS? 4 games in 4 weeks is too much, the WRU will artificially inflate the attendance in one of two ways

• A £60 two in one ticket
• £5 tickets

Both are short term options, both Swansea and Wrexham have cause to be aggrieved and the People of Cardiff/People who travel to Cardiff cannot afford the cost of 4 in 4 weeks.

In Swansea they will have the excellent 20,000+ Morfa Stadium, a 1^st class venue. In Wrexham the 15,000 capacity Racecourse.

Both would be sell outs for the game, and by spreading the game around the country it would show the WRU is thinking more than just short term money grabbing.

Oh well, its not as if it is a surprise to me.
