Blues denied by resolute Bolton

Everton had to settle for a share of the spoils in their final game of 2002 as Bolton managed to keep out Rooney et al in a scoreless draw at Goodison.

It's the third successive draw for the Blues, and most will see it as two points dropped rather than one gained. Rooney came closest to getting on the scoresheet but his shot rebounded off the bar, but later the Blues escaped when Okocha suffered a similar fate.

Moyes reflected,
"I’m not happy. I’m disappointed we didn’t score any goals. We played OK at times, but not all the time – not often enough."

“I’m disappointed we didn’t win. Simple as that. We’ve dropped four points out of the last six and that’s not good. We’d have expected more than three points out of our last three games, but at least we’re unbeaten.”

So a disappointing end to the year, but who would have expected that at the end of December the Blues would be only 5 points shy of the magical 40. And lets hope that the year ends with an Arsenal victory tomorrow afternoon.
