IS IT A NEW CHAPTER FOR MERCEDES AMG IN F1?

The Chinese GP victory by Mercedes marked the first win by the Silver Arrows since 1955.

Mercedes came to China significantly prepared for battle. After a slow and disappointing start to the 2012 season the team finally found the right formula. Nico and Michael qualified first and third respectively. Due to a penalty to Lewis Hamilton the Silver Arrows locked out the first row for the race. Then a great start by both our drivers set the stage for a Mercedes win. Had it not been for a pit stop blunder knocking Michael from contention it looked as though both drivers were in for strong paying points. 

Since the debut of the Benz Works in 1934 there are only eight names who have won Grand Prix races for Mercedes. Great names like Luigi Fagioli, Juan Manual Fangio and Stirling Moss are among the winners. Now Nico Rosberg joins these celebrated drivers. He is most likely still reeling from his first win but I’m sure he will quickly come to realize the honor of sharing space with such lofty names in F1 history. Norbert Haug of Mercedes also mentioned how important and how right it would be to have the name of Michael Schumacher, the most winning man in F1 with seven world titles, join this elite list of Mercedes drivers. All it would take is a single win by the man who has 91 wins to his credit already.

With three GP’s completed and three different winners we head into round 4 in Bahrain with no less than five teams possessing the potential to win the top step of the podium. This only goes to show F1’s power to surprise.
