No change for BAR as Fisichella wins

Jordan's Giancarlo Fisichella has been awarded first place in last week's Brazilian Grand Prix. The decision was reached at the FIA's headquarters in Paris this morning following an admission by official race timekeepers that they got it wrong.

The mistake was due to the fact that that the Jordan driver had already started his 56th lap when the race was stopped, though the timekeepers had previously insisted that the Italian was still on his 55th lap.

The timing screens originally showed the Italian as leading, thereby having won the race, but this information curiously disappeared a few seconds later. It was while the information was on the screens that team boss Eddie Jordan started celebrating, convinced that his man had won.

This result gives Jordan their fourth win in 200 races, and Fisichella's first in 110, who now jumps to fourth in the championship. The race winner on Sunday, Kimi Raikkonen, drops down to second. Places 3 to 6 remain the same, with Alonso leading Coulthard, Frentzen and Villeneuve. Webber loses his seventh place, which is taken by Ralf Schumacher, and Trulli remains eighth.

In the constructors championship, McLaren and Jaguar lose two points, Jordan and Williams gain two, but there's no changes in championship order.
