Despite his heavy accident this morning, Jenson Button is likely to take part in qualifying this afternoon in the spare Lucky Strike BAR Honda chassis.

FIA medical delegate Professor Sid Watkins cleared Jenson to race after examination in the Princess Grace Hospital.

"It's extremely difficult to say what happened as much of the information is second-hand," said technical boss Geoff Willis, "however we heard from Professor Watkins that Jenson didn't break anything and he is quite happy with him. Jenson went to hospital for a check-up and hopefully could be back in the car this afternoon."

BAR technical director Geoff Willis said the team had studied the television pictures, and was satisfied that nothing had broken on the car.

"It looks like he lost the car, but we are not quite sure why at this stage. We studied the television pictures as much as we could to try and establish if something had broken, and are pretty happy that wasn't the case and allowed Jacques to continue."
