Davidson still eyeing up Williams seat

With Jacques Villeneuve, Mark Webber and even Mika Hakkinen being linked to the spare 2005 seat at Williams, Lucky Strike BAR Honda's third driver Anthony Davidson has again staked his claim.

"Why would Williams want to put Jacques Villeneuve in a car instead of me?" questioned Davidson. "He has been out of Formula One for a year. Why not give it to a young driver?"

Anthony has support from team mate Jenson Button, who said "Anthony could definitely do a good job for someone and deserves a race seat. He's proved he is quick in practice and in a race he would be just as good.

"He has a lot of experience in setting up the car. I'd love the chance to race against him just as we did in karts as kids."

Davidson currently participates in the Friday free practice sessions, and has often topped the times. However, that's no substitute for racing. "It's frustrating just waiting," he explains. "I love Fridays because I get the chance to prove what I can do. It's my shop window. A lot of complimentary things have been said. Now I'm just hoping that something comes of it.

"I have spoken to the teams with available seats and will do so again. In the meantime I have to keep doing what I have been doing and hope it is enough."
