Controversial Gearbox Deemed Legal

The FIA has now confirmed what we told you at BAR-Talk.com earlier in the week. BAR Honda's innovative new gearbox is legal for use for the 2005 Formula One season.

Critics have incorrectly claimed the gearbox is a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) which is prohibited in Formula One. But Honda's Engineering Director Shuhei Nakatomo has put this rumour to rest. "We've been told by the FIA that everything is legal and there's nothing wrong with the gearbox," reported Shuhei Nakatomo.
