BAR Honda's Jenson Button has suffered in the run up to the second Chinese Grand Prix, with the driver being hit by a bout of food poisoning.

"Yesterday was not so good, but today I was okay," Button told Autosport-Atlas. "I was pretty ill yesterday and went home really early. I got 12 hours of sleep so it sorted me out."

The regular racing diet has been put to one side for the weekend, with Button surviving on just rice and plain water until he's recovered. As a precaution, Jenson's PR duties were put to one side on Thursday, and he's on a reduced workload today.

It may still be worth BAR Honda putting a couple of extra kilos of ballast in the car...
