Thats great news should be on course for 30 k.Superb effort by fans in the region,just goes to show the support base is there.

makes me laugh when we can get 27 k + just from around the cardiff area and wales football can just about get 20k in there. and they reckon that football is the most popular sport in wales lol

On the other hand, what do you think the attendance would be if it were Cardiff City playing in a european cup quarter final? I reckon they would fill the millenium without a shadow of a doubt.

There were over 18k at Ninian Park last night for a mid week league match. This figure is around about there average attendance. If they were playing Barcelona on saturday I do think the Millenium would be rammed but as you say, we'll never ever, know for sure.

Looking at the Blues on line booking availability, there are only 20 seats available for the lower tier! Unless there will be another block made available.

and they are looking to take 40 buses up to the edf final next week

they filled it for the divison 2 (what is now league 1) play offs a few years back. I have no doubt they'd fill it for a euro quarter final.

however they will not, in the near future if ever, get to a euro quarter final.

whenever ive watched the french league on eurosport they always seem to be sold out and they do look pretty big stadiums

Me and my son are big Blues fans and have been coming up 4 years. i offered to run a bus and filled it with a mixed bag of Cardiff, ospreys and scarlet fans, but all are cheering for cardiff tomorrow. c,mon the blues.

These inside toilets you talk about, will they be same luxurious standard as the ones i be using under the stand at CAP, hope so i do. Bob, Im sure that at this moment in time there are more people from the South Wales area who would go to see City in big match at Millennium compared to the Blues but the play off match you refer to is a bit different - almost half of that crowd would have been from the other team and the capacity would have been slightly less. So there were probably 35 - 40KK there supporting City and there will probably 30 - 35K there today supportgin the Blues. Also this is a QF not a final (which is what the play off final was). If this was a final against Toulouse then (if tickets were available) we'd have thousands more wanting to come. That play off match was a HUGE one for City.

I also think that their average crowd being 40% more than ours doesn't mean they have 40% more fans or potential fans it just means they get an average of about 7K more than us - BUT all footy league matches are big and count so there is an argument that you need to look at our average for EDFR, HC and local welsh derbies to get a true comparison. If we did that then it would be much closer

Excellent post Rich. Yesterday showed there is the potential for a Cardiff rugby side to become one of the most supported sides in Europe, the problem is there's not enough attractive fixtures to entice the floating fans to become season ticket holders.

It will be very interesting to see how season ticket sales go for next year, we had been expecting to lose 1,000+, but at this rate we could be looking at a new record season ticket sales - but then again, perhaps I'm getting ahead of myself. Like i say, interesting and exciting times ahead.

Admin, remember the players that are leaving after the end of the season we could win the the HC and be left with a side with Sweeny at 10 no JR no Spice....

But we've already signed a few new players and i dont believe we've signed any massive marquee type players yet.

I for one will be signing up for my first Blues season ticket if win or loose HC or EDF final.The season before last i cherry picked this year i was more hooked and have been to tha majority of home games so next year makes sense to buy a season ticket.
Im looking forward to some investment now in the summer and continuing to see what lies ahead for this team 8)

Hi there.Great post and i couldnt agree more with what youve said here.Im one of those floating supporters over the last few years ive attended mainly the heineken cup games at the millenium stadium and at the arms park and have always found it to be a pleasant experience.You hit the nail on the head there when you said that there arent enough attractive fixtures,and thats whats holding me back from getting a season ticket.If we were playing leicester,glouscester,munster etc on a regular basis in meaningful games i would gladly part with my hard earned cash for a season ticket.With the move to the new stadium im seriously considering getting one now anyway depending on how reasonably priced they are.The problem for me is that i support my local club and have a membership there,but most of the blues games at home arent on a saturday at 2.30 like my local club so maybe i could do both??Im convinced if there were a british league the blues would probably be the best supported team in it.Saturday was a taster of the support base at this region with the right fixtures,unfortunatley connacht and edinburgh doesnt do it for most people.Ultimatley the team and coaching staff are performing well and people want to be associated with a winning team,im sure we will have close to 50k blues supportes for the semi.

3 Feathers - I recommend you get a ST then as they are VERY good value. £200 for an adult seat at the side of the ground (cheaper if you go in Family section) is fantastic. That's a guaranteed 9 home Magners matches + a guaranteed 3 home HC matches + probably 2 home Anglo Welsh fixtures (it would seem from recent rumour). Although Anglo Welsh not sorted I'm sure there'd be something to replace it if it didn't go ahead. So that's a min of £14.28 per game which is fantastic to see such (nolrmally) ghreat rugby.

Worth noting that the agreement reached this year about Magners from next season mean they will be more meaningful. We shouldn't be playing our Welsh derbies with second teams for a starters (or playing 3 derbies in 8 days hopefully!) and the Irish boyz should be at full strength when coming to us.

Also things change -e.g. Glasgow at home a couple of years ago would be one I wouldn't mind missing - whereas now I'd be expecting a great, attacking and very close match with great flair players on show. They may not (yet) have a glamour name but that is changing and with Cussiter and others joining them next year they will be a force. Edinburgh also normally close. Connaght is the only weak link in the ML as I see it (though they are of course very tricky at their place). All Leagues have such teams (The Guiness Prem will have Leeds as the may be miss fixture next year) and the Top 14 have a number of mis-matches (for the home team at least).
