Warburton to Captain Wales at RWC?

As Blues flanker Sam Warburton prepares to lead out his country for only the third time, news has broken that he could yet be installed as the full time captain in New Zealand.

The Whitchurch born Blues academy product has burst onto the scene over the past 18 months, but his sensational rise could be about to get even better. Wales have announced that current captain Matthew Rees is due to have surgery on his neck, which could see him miss out on the Rugby World Cup. If that were to happen, it seems likely that coach Warren Gatland would turn to the 22 year old to lead Wales in New Zealand. Other options would include ex-captains Martyn Williams or Ryan Jones, but both are currently not expected to be guaranteed starters. It would be a big ask for Warby, but an honour which is going to be bestowed on the incredibly talented youngster sooner or later.
