A brace of tries from former Swinton Lions second rower Dale Holdstock helped guide Leigh to an impressive victory against Holdstock's local childhood club, Hull Kingston Rovers.

Holdstock's two tries, along with tries from Alan Hadcroft, David Alstead and Phil Kendrick, coupled with two John Duffy drop goals and a Duffy conversion helped Leigh to an impressive 11-point victory at a notoriously tough ground.

When you take into account the difficulty of playing at New Craven Park, even on a warm, bright day today, it is even more impressive to consider that Leigh recovered from trailing 11-10 at the break. This evening's performance has certainly done a lot to silence Leigh's doubters, even at this early stage of the season.

The vultures had been gathering around Centurions coach Paul Terzis after an umimpressive start to their season in the Arriva Trains Cup with several poor performances and a shock defeat to Chorley. Many had even suggested that Terzis should be replaced by Chorley coach, and former Centurions youth coach, Darren Abram.

Many of those who held that opinion will certainly have re-evaluated their feelings after these evening's victory.
