Leigh kept up their 100% National League One record with a routine victory over a dogged Batley side at Mount Pleasant earlier this afternoon.

Leigh started brightly and took the lead within the first few minutes when a superb passing move was finished off by long-serving former Widnes centre Phil Kendrick.

Centurions captain Adam Bristow extended Leigh's lead before Leon Williamson pulled back a try for the hosts which was converted by Barry Eaton, a familiar player to the Leigh side and supporters following his many high profile duels with the Centurions in recent years for both Dewsbury Rams and Widnes Vikings.

Leigh scored further tries through David Alstead, Sonny Nickle and Paul Rowley with Batley's only further score coming through Craig Lingard.

The victory kept Leigh ahead of fellow 100 percent-ers Rochdale Hornets on points difference and three points ahead of pre-season favourites Salford City Reds, following Salford's shock 18-16 defeat against Featherstone Rovers this afternoon.
