Although there wasn't the try-fest of the previous week's victory, Leigh won through to the Arriva Cup Semi Final despite some nervous moments against Featherstone.

Leigh started on the wrong foot with John Duffy knocking the ball on direct from the kick-off.

Visitors Featherstone were desperate to make up for their capitulation in their previous visit to Hilton Park last weekend and were enthusiastic in both defence and attack.

Despite all of Featherstone's purpose and enterprise, it was Leigh who took the lead when Dale Cardoza went in at the left-hand corner.

Featherstone scored a penalty partway through the first half to give a half-time score of 6-2 to Leigh.

In the second half Leigh scored further tries with another from Cardoza, two from Damian Munro and one from scrum-half John Duffy.

Featherstone grabbed a try through former Dewsbury winger Adrian Flynn which ensured a nervy period of play for Leigh but they were never in too much danger of defeat, despite Featherstone then having a try disallowed.
