Da Matta 'walking and talking'

Former Toyota F1 driver and Champ Car World series driver Cristiano Da Matta's recovery has continued and the Brazilian is said to be 'walking and talking.'

Da Matta is recovering well after he sustained multiple injuries after hitting a deer whilst testing for his Ru-Sport Champ Car team at the Road America circuit. Da Matta is still being held at the Theda Clark Medical Centre, which is where the Brazilian has been held since the accident on August 3rd. 

Da Matta is said to now be able to talk in both English and Portuguese, and to walk for short periods of time. Dr Chris Pinderski, the Champ Car World series Medical Director has said "Cristiano has made excellent progress in the past several days, Although he is still somewhat confused, he is now conversational in both English and Portuguese.'' He continued, ''Additionally, he has started to walk on his own for short periods of time with minimal assistance. We anticipate that Cristiano will be ready to make the transition to a rehabilitation setting next week."
