24th July Jerez Test: Luke's Round Up

Two days after the chaotic European Grand Prix, 7 F1 teams were in action at the Jerez Circuit in Spain, greeted by sunny conditions. Today was definatly the test drivers big day out, with all of the 7 drivers in action today all being test drivers...

...with not a race driver in sight.

In action for Toyota today was Frenchamn Franck Montagny who finished a solid 2nd with a time of 1.21.136 just behind Mclaren test driver Pedro De La Rosa who set the standard by fisnihing P1 on a 1.20.111.

Japanese star and GP2 racer Kazuki Nakajima was in action for Williams-Toyota finishing third ahead of British Super Aguri test driver James Rossiter. Super Aguri, much like the races this season, finished ahead of parent team Honda as Christian Klien who was last seen in action for Spyker at the Spa test, was back in his Honda testing duties finshing 5th.

Nelson Piquet JR's quest for a 2008 race drive continues. The Brazilian who is often seen being chummy with Renault boss Flavio Britaore on the Renault pit wall at Grand Prix's was in action for the team today finshing 6th on a 1.22.537. He only beat Swiss Renault World Series front runner Sebastian Buemi who is not only replacing Michael Ammermuller at the ART Grand Prix GP2 Team because of his injury but is also taking over Ammermuller's Red Bull testing commitments too. Buemi, rather impressivly, was only a shade off Piquet's time ending the day on a 1.22.565.
