Toyota F1 take to the streets of Cologne

Panasonic Toyota Racing drivers Olivier Panis and Ricardo Zonta took to the streets of Cologne on Saturday 21 August, as part of Toyota Germany's City Grand Prix. The event would see several Toyota cars present in front of 50,000 spectators.

	Panasonic Toyota Racing drivers Olivier Panis and Ricardo Zonta took to the streets of Cologne on Saturday 21 August, as part of Toyota Germany's City Grand Prix. A total of eight cars, representing a selection of Toyota's European motorsport activities, took part in the event, which was attended by an estimated 50,000 spectators. Panis completed two runs of a specially created 1.2km road course in Toyota's 2003 F1 car, the TF103, exciting fans with a series of burn outs and donuts. Zonta totalled five tours in this year's model, the TF104. German female driver Isolde Holderied and French rally star Didier Auriol took charge of Toyota rally cars during the event. Toyota's former Le Mans and F1 driver Allan McNish reacquainted himself with the famous GT-One. Mayor of Cologne, Fritz Schramma and Toyota Germany President, Markus Schrick both attended the day-long festivities. "A fantastic day and a great event," enthused Olivier Panis. "This is what it is all about, giving something back to the fans. I am proud to have been a part of today's Toyota City Grand Prix." Ricardo Zonta added: "It has been sometime since I have attended an event like the City Grand Prix. The atmosphere was amazing. I hope we gave the Cologne people a good show. I certainly had fun out there."
