Get your entries in for 2008!

The FIA’s window for the 2008 Formula One World Championship will open on Friday 24th March with only one week for teams to get their entry in before it closes a week later on Friday 31st March. Toyota is one of 5 manufactures planning a breakaway series after 2007.

FIA’s ring leader, Max Mosley, has put forward a window of entry so the teams interested in competing in 2008 can talk about the regulations which are due to be published tomorrow. There will be 12 slots available, which would mean a grid of 24 cars. Many organisations, including Dave Richard’s company Prodrive, have expressed an interest in entering a team for the 2008 Formula One World Championship and beyond, only if the cost of racing is reduced. Indeed the three key areas of the 2008 regulations are; to reduce the cost of competing, to improve the sporting spectacle and to maintain, where possible, improve current safety standards.

But, clever Max as he is, has put the pressure on the manufactures to sign up or risk losing their slot in the Formula One World Championship from 2008 as there will only be 12 vacancies, although space permitting, the FIA will allow for late entries, but you won’t have a say if certain regulations if they’ve been agreed before hand.

Toyota is one of five manufactures planning a breakaway series in 2008, the next 7 days will either confirm their departure from Formula One at the end of 2007, or their continuation of the sport regarded as the ‘pinnacle of motorsport’.
