2008 Regulations Reviled

On Wednesday the FIA reviled a number of changes to the Formula One World Championship starting from 2008. The changes include a return to slick tyres (Yay), a longer calendar (Yay) and instead of the 10 place penalty for changing your engine, your have a weight penalty instead (Yay). But…

The gearboxes will have to last four race weekends, and the two weekend engines will remain (Boo!). But, these are not the official regulations and are subject to change. Once we have the 12 teams signed up to the ‘new’ 2008 championship, they will get the opportunity to debate these new rules and tweak them here and there.

Another interesting change is the reduction in testing, teams will be limited to 30,000 km outside race weekends per year.
